I was diagnosed 10/20 with Parkinson’s disease. My wife and I noticed something 8 years prior to diagnosis. I drug my feet, peed a lot and fell some. Now that I have identified the culprit. Things are much better.

    Mary Beth,
I took Melatonin for a moment. Most of all it made me Pee too much. It also made me a little groggy. Now I try and exercise more and sleep comes easier. I don’t experience aggression
in bed. Getting good sleep is so very important. To me natural sleep is the most restorative.

    Ally,

I really believe that exercise is a key to a better outcome with this condition. So every morning since my diagnosis 8/20 I have gotten up and exercised at 5 am. I have adjusted the routine some. Now I start with some weights 8 lb and 5 lbs then I do boxing with my cats in our cat tree. Jeri particularly enjoys it. Then I got to  an LSVT program from Blessing Health Care. Mostly it is several  Parkinson’s specific movement exercise routines.  Since the beginning it has been empowering. I just cannot wait for this condition to happen to me. Blessings,Mike

In May my wife and I went to Puerto Penesco in Mexico. We drove from our home in Sedona, 5 hours and we were there at that Sea of Cortez in Mexico. It was really fun we had a suite overlooking the ocean for 1 week. Then in June we went to Hawaii. We stayed at our favorite place, the Ilikai in Honolulu. Hawaii involved more walking than I cared for but it was great to see my parents and my sister and her husband. It was taxing to get through the airport because of the virus. I think our best trip was last Week to Phoenix only 120 miles away. We watched our Granddaughter coach her volleyball team from Alaska. We had not seen her in 3 years so it was very fun. Traveling with this condition is harder than before but if I am careful it is very doable but I am slower

I  believe that you are special Jim.  God has chosen you to act as an example in coping through him. The longer I am on this journey the more strength participants show.

Rather than wallowing in self pity we are constantly in search of solution for our selves and others. What works for one may not work for others but there is always support offered.

It really is like a club. We are given Lemons yet we continue to make Lemonade.

    Christ is with us,

I have found exercise to be essential in my PK battle. I use 9zest which is an on-line series

of routines devised by a person with PK for Patients. It is great. The Stanford Outreach for
Parkinson’s is also a great site. I exercise on my deck. With my cats…I have also developed

a boxing routine with my cat tree. My wife and I walk 3 miles 3-4 days a week. I also go to my Time Share workout room. Since I have worked out most of my life it is not much of a change. Especially when I read that exercise can be as important as a medication. Since I

am retired 8 years God has given me a renewed sense of mission and common purpose.

My PD diagnosis has definitely changed our lives. At this  point I feel some effect but if I’m careful I can cope. When I realized I could not handle this crisis on my own it became easier.  Living one day at a time has made my journey easier.  My faith life does not really include others…because of the virus.

    Blessings,

Christ is always waiting for us to turn more toward Him. “His strength is made perfect in my weakness “ is my favorite scripture. I have had other struggles in my life. This is not my 1st disease. I am a recovering Alcoholic. Lots of the tools I have used to stay sober will allow me to cope with PD. God is always with me.

    Blessings,

    Mike

My opinion is that Jesus Christ knows better than I do what I can handle. In fact it says that in his Word. I just have got to trust in hiM if I to do the work (exercise, eating correctly).  Let God and let go. It is not up to me. I have a Heavenly Father to depend on.

    Blessings
