Thank you,

Yes, after two years on carbidopa/levodopa I began experiencing hair loss. The medication is doing its job so I am fine with wearing a wig when I choose. Just like the disease itself, not everyone will have the same experience.

I will be 70 this May, diagnosed 10/2017. I take C/L, 12 pills daily.
My hair started thinning about 25 years ago and I’ve worn a wig since. I keep my natural hair professionally trimmed to 1 1/2 inches. The top and back of my head are so thin it’s embarrassing.
I think other factors began the hair thinning, with Parkinson’s continuing the problem.i’m not sure about “peeling of the face”. I have dry skin and flaking areas but no areas of peeling.

I noticed about three months ago that I had peeling skin on my eyelids. Right now all I have to do is wipe it off with a washcloth and I don’t notice it the rest of the day. It seems to me that a basic job of shampoo is to eliminate flakes of dead skin. My cheeks haven’t looked this good for a long time. The shampoo is called Vanicream.

<p style=”text-align: right;”>It’s not clear from your answers, but it sounds like it’s medication side effects v PD?</p>

I have PD for 4+ years now. While I haven’t noticed any hair loss,in the last year or so, I have had soem peeling ofthe skin on my face. I’m not sure if it’saside-effect ofPD orpartof the aginnnng process ( I recently turned 74).

I am experiencing hair loss but I thought it was because my daddy was bald on top. I have had PD for 12yrs and have been taking carbidopa/levodopa the whole time.

I have lost a lot of hair and experience skin peeling on my face. I don’t think the cause is the disease itself, but rather from the Sinemet.

My HWP has the peeling, flaky skin. It is part of PD. His dermatologist calls it seborrheic dermatitis. He is now using Hydrocortisone 2.5% when it flares red and nasty and then Ketakonazole. We return to the dermatologist in five months for a review. It gets better when he is not in humid Florida where we live.

I was experiencing heavy hair loss while on immediate release Carb/Lev. Switched to controlled release and changed up my vitamin routine and the loss has slowed, so now I don’t know which to chalk it up to :/ Either way, I’m happy about it. I’m also dealing with sebum and seborrhoeic dermatitis at the same time (eyelids, nose, etc.). Have topical medications for both. The flaking is controlled but the sebum is a little more tricky to deal with.
