I stopped driving about 3 years ago. I could probably still drive if I had to, but why take the risk? Besides using Lyft and Uber save me money. No more high insurance bills, gas, tolls, parking, depreciation, registration and inspection fees, and maintenance.

I will have no hesitation, The odds of a PD patient being hospitalized or dying are at least four times greater that of a non-PD patient! Res Ipsa Loquitur!

The bottle I have says three capsules per day. I like to follow directions.

After 1 week no noticeable change.

I just started it a few days ago. I bought capsules from Amazon (Nature’s Nutrition 1950 mg TID. I tried writing to the study’s authors to find a source, product and dosage, but got no reply. I not sure that Turmeric curcumin is equal to turmeric essential oils, but at about 10 cents a capsule it’s a low cost low risk. The indications are joint, heart, and brain health. I have a heart condition, so it might help. I will keep others posted on any results. It’s still too early to tell. If anyone knows the difference between the capsules and the essential oil, please let me know.

I have to agree with Denise. Exercise is the very best thing that helps the symptoms of PD. I exercise 5 days a week with virtual classes (both aerobically and with 5 lb. weights). I have not increased my sinemet CR in 2 years and have no dyskensias or freezing. My balance is better than most 72 year olds and my cognitive abilities are only slightly diminished.

I’ve tried all sorts of natural meds (fava, macuna, Lion’s Mane, pre- and pro-biotics, and mannitol) but nothing helps as much as plain old exercise of the mind and body!

I tried mannitol and all it gave me was loose stools. I have the LRRK variant of PD, so perhaps it works on other types of PD. I did have good results eating Fava beans, which are a natural source of L-dopa. These days, I add a daily Macuna capsule to my sinemet CR.

I am currently taking Lactobacillus plantarum but have yet to see a change. I tried mannitol, but it gave me diarrhea.

If you have a great PD doctor and a little luck, you will start on the right dose. I started on Sinemet 3 x a day. Later, when I reported sleeping problems, he added a 4th dose at night. I also find that a bag of fava beans or taking a macuna capsule helps when I need a boost.

I too have these movements when I sleep. I’ve found that taking my Sinemet CR just before going to sleep is helpful.

I am 72 have had PD for 2.5 years. I exercise 6 days a week virtually in a combination of Silver sneakers  and Zumba classes. These have helped me enormously and my PD doctor confirms that my disease has not progressed since I started this pandemic routine.

While I use a low dose Sinemet CR to control my PD, I also eat small bags of fava beans (The Good Bean on Amazon 50 cents per bag) between doses. I have done this for two years and it has helped keep me from increasing my dose. They taste good to, so they make a good snack while providing me a natural dose of dopamine.

  • I just had an telemedicine appointment today. While it’s not as good as a physical appointment, it worked out fine. I was able to update my history and get my prescription refilled. I recommend that you use a camera, as the doctor can have you go some of the tests usually done in-person.

I’ve found a simple treatment for off periods. I eat a bag of fava beans. They are made by the good bean and cost about fifty cents per bag on Amazon. They also make tasty snacks and people have no idea why I am eating them.
