  • Do you watch more TV than you used to watch?

One thing I’ve noticed about my dad is that his habits have shifted since his PD diagnosis. He used to love to go to football games and play euchre with his friends. But now his habits are much more home-driven. He finds comfort in the news and his regular television programs. And he’s generally a little bit softer with himself.

Do you watch more TV than you used to watch? If so, how do you feel about the shift? Which programs do you like the most?

My husband used to watch TV as soon as he got home from work until bedtime and now it is on from 8am to 10 or 11 pm. He will take a break of an hour or so to do something. It is mind numbing and I wish the TV was off but I guess it gives him comfort.

I used to watch more TV but after a few months I got fed up with it especially as a lot of the programme’s I watched have been changed or scrapped. My husband who looks after me watches every sport there is. I have started to sew again. The programme’s I like to watch are antiques, and factual, how things are made.

Some days I watch a lot – if there are comedies like Abbott Elementary. light stuff.

I watch more TV than I used to.  However, I try to limit my daily dosage of TV news since it tends to be depressing,  I stick to old movies, or history, home improvement channels. I think it is important to remember that although many events may be out of our control, the TV remote, especially the “OFF” button is definitely within my control!

I find myself watching more TV mostly because of my erratic bowel movements. I’m also not traveling long distances for the same reason. I’m trying out PS128 a probiotic that over time may get things more under control and also VSL#3 as prescribed by my gastroenterologist.

Yes I do. Actually I am on my computer more.  I find it entertaining and educational. depending upon what I watch.  I guess I am becoming more sedate as my Parkinson’s progresses.  I still find time to exercise,  but I sit alot during the day.

I do watch more TV than I ever have, and find it a diversion from thinking about how my life used to be. I alternate between TV and the computer throughout my day. Much of my exercise is done between these two rooms in my home. I am not able to go outside as often as I did before, so TV is the easiest avenue of completing my days.

It may have to do with age (I’m in my 70s), but I find that I tend to fall asleep in front of the TV.  I used to watch TV from about 7 -11 PM.  Now I’m awake only about 1/2 of that time – sleeping the other 1/2 on the couch in front of the TV
