Jon Busch replied to the topic Can exercise delay Parkinson's progression? in the forum Parkinson's Disease and exercise 1 week, 5 days ago
I joined a gym in 2003 and am still there. I was diagnosed in 2009 but continued going to the gym 5 days a week for probably another 8 years. I was mostly doing cardio stuff. In the last six months my PD has progressed and I cut back to every other day. My workout recovery takes longer. I’m 81 and some of the guys at the gym help me occasionally…[Read more]

I was diagnosed in 2009 ut progressed slowly until the pat feet months. I’ve been on lego/caarbidopa almost thee entire time but the past few years i”ve also taken rasagiline because I can get it cheap out of Canada (three months for $106). I have no idea if it’s doing anything. I’m interested in knowing if the L/C extended release decreases…[Read more]

What’s a CPAP machine? You take Taurine. What about all those other supplementsl that supposedly protect mitochondria ?

Jon Busch replied to the topic Do you struggle with sleep disturbances? in the forum Parkinson's Disease Symptoms 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Yes, I have sleep problems, waking several times a night. I have occasional incontinence issues and even if i don’t need to go I do. Mostly hip pain wakes me – it’s irritated musiclature. Sleeping in in the morning seems to help. I was diagnosed in 2009 and like JJ I work out regularly at the gym since 2003. I credit it with being alive and mobile…[Read more]

Jon Busch replied to the topic Are you working with any alternative health care practitioners? in the forum Parkinson's Disease alternative treatments 1 month, 2 weeks ago
I’m not but would like to be. Of particular interest is acupuncture, CBD and the microbiome. interestingly today WebMD ran an article on Ashwagandha in which they said the Indian herb may be effective in Parkinson’s. Does anyone use it and to what effect?

Jon Busch replied to the topic Are you working with any alternative health care practitioners? in the forum Parkinson's Disease alternative treatments 1 month, 2 weeks ago
I’m into my 4th month on Neuralli (the company says it might take 3 months for results). So far I’d have to say it’s been a waste of money. Sad. Regarding acupuncture I read the recent study here from China. I’d like to try it but the study didn’t identify meridian (?) lines so was little more than a tease.
OF more interest to me were the two…[Read more]

Jon Busch replied to the topic CBD Oil and Parkinsons in the forum Parkinson's Disease alternative treatments 1 month, 3 weeks ago
I’ve tried CBD tincture – nothing. I tried a 50/50 blend which made me groggy in the morning and I still slept fitfully.

Jon Busch replied to the topic Have you tried CBD oil? in the forum Parkinson's Disease alternative treatments 1 month, 4 weeks ago
I tried CBD but only about a week and had noticeable effect. A 50/50 CBD/THC blend did nothing to improve my sleep (I worked my way up to 1 third eyedropper) and I woke up groggy. Maybe I didn’t give it enough time but I think it was a bust.

Hi All –
This study out of China almost seems too good to be true but would be easy to replicate if PNT would provide a link to the study so that acupuncturists had direction.

I just realized I misspoke about the price of rasagiline out of Canada. I am currently paying $105 for a THREE MONTH SUPPLY (100 tabs)!

Jon Busch replied to the topic Wondering About Azilect? in the forum Using our forums 2 months ago
I was diagnosed in 2009 and was put on Azilect at that time. Due to high cost ($300 a month) my neurologist put me on generic carbs-levo dopa (25/100) and I have been on it ever since. A few years ago I was able to get generic Azilect out of Canada for $90 peer month (Sun Pharma out of India). I’m on 1mg daily and I notice nothing. About five…[Read more]

I was diagnosed with PD in 2009 and have been on the same dosage through all these years (25-100 three times daily). I guess I’m lucky that it has progessed slowly, but in the past few months tremor has been quite bothersome. I am trying out PS128 (an advertiser on this site) because one small study found that it reduces Off-Times). I am now…[Read more]

The new cars of today are advertised as almost driverless. If you believe the ads you might be able to extend your time behind the wheel.

An index of subjects and medications/supplements would be handy. Maybe this is already available and I just have not found it yet.

Frustrating. I have PD (diagnosed in 2009). My father had it. His father had PD and one brother was thought to have had it – and yet I don’t have any of the genetic markers of PD. I have two younger brothers who have been symptom free so far (they’re late 60s early 70s). My symptoms mirror my dad’s. I’m still independent at 81 but my strength and…[Read more]

Reading through posts on this topic makes me want to remind myself FREQUENTLY that my life with PD isn’t so bad. I was diagnosed in 2009 and am still mobile. My biggest problem is diarrhea/constipation. I’ve been on the same dose sinemet since almost the beginning. If I had one bit of advice it would .be join a gym and go regularly. I had joined…[Read more]

Jon Busch replied to the topic Will you continue to get COVID boosters and vaccines? in the forum Coronavirus (COVID-19) and Parkinson’s 4 months, 2 weeks ago
Well I’ve not heard of any good reason not to get boosted. I think I’ve had 5 shots total. I haven’t got COVID. I get flu sots every year and haven’t once had the flu. I’ve gotten them all and I’m pretty healthy except for PD.

Jon Busch replied to the topic What do you think is at the root of your Parkinson's diagnosis? in the forum Diagnosis Information and General Questions 4 months, 2 weeks ago
As a child my father used o have me go into the extensive vegetable garden and dust the cabbages with DDT. I distinctly remember the sweet smell of it. Then we’d eat the cabbages both fresh and in homemade sauerkraut. This went on for several years before DDT was outlawed. But at the same time both my father and grandfather came down with PD and I…[Read more]

Jon Busch replied to the topic Do you watch more TV than you used to watch? in the forum Living With Parkinson's Disease 4 months, 3 weeks ago
I find myself watching more TV mostly because of my erratic bowel movements. I’m also not traveling long distances for the same reason. I’m trying out PS128 a probiotic that over time may get things more under control and also VSL#3 as prescribed by my gastroenterologist.

I tried Nourianz for a month. I just couldnt’t see a cost benefit. I see there’s a new candidate XADAGO. How expensive is it? How effective is it?
