Yes, I’ve accepted my diagnosis both emotionally and intellectually. There are far worse diseases, in my opinion AND we are only given the present moment to live. Physical activity lessens my anxiety, also mindfulness meditation, I recently completed a mindfulness meditation class for PD where I learned to “quiet”my mind and thoughts. Very helpful!

As a psychotherapist you’re already aware of the unfortunate cognitive aspects associated with PD. I have my Masters in Nursing. I get very upset by newly diagnosed “Parkies” who are left figuratively scratching their heads and wondering what’s going to happen to them, without anyone to help guide them through the maze of the US healthcare…[Read more]

Hi Ian
I was diagnosed with PD on 5/7/18. I have no tremor while I sleep that I am aware of, no tremor upon awakening. The tremor seems to become more frequent as the day goes on. I started Sinemet for the first time last November, It seems to help somewhat because I notice an increase in tremor as it wears off

That has been my experience as well with my tremor. Almost nonexistent in the morning but definitely gets worse throughout the day. I workout four times a week and it gets pretty bad during my workout but dies back down to the “normal” tremor I have throughout the day. I moved to Maui this year (from California) and good doctors are really hard to find here. I have good insurance, but I may need to fly to Oahu or the mainland to really get these kinds of things going for me …
