Don’t like it, not even a little.

I bet we all agree….this is a VERY bothersome symptom. I hit it many ways and this helps. I put benefiber in my morning coffee, I eat high fiber cereal every morning, I drink water with Miralax every afternoon. Vegetables like broccoli and green beans help too.

I assume lots of seniors will read this. Gunsmoke remains the best thing ever on TV and Matt Dillon the best TV character. Think I exaggerate? There are 600 episodes and it’s somewhere on cable everyday. Watch 6 random episodes and see what you think. You’re welcome.

My PD brought sleep disturbances along with other symptoms. I take Melatonin before bed and I think it helps me sleep. My chiropractor told me that the part of the brain where tremors originate goes completely off when we sleep and that’s why the tremors stop. I’ve never discussed this specific topic with my neurologist.

Hello Ron B, I’m 72, first tremors were 6 yrs ago. I started C/L 3 months ago. It’s the only PD med I’ve taken. I talked to 2 neurologists about holding off, neither were really much help. It’s a very personal decision and I would never give advice. Advice is worth what you pay for it, right? I’m retired and my days are not busy. For me, this summer it got tough for me to do the normal things around the house. I have a friend my age who also has PD and we both agree the C/L only knocks the tremors about in half. Hope that helps. Regards, Mike P.

I’m 5 yrs into this thing and yes, sleep problems are very bothersome. 5 mg of Melatonin does help me some. I’m not against getting a prescription sleep aid if it gets worse. This method isn’t for everyone but I turn the TV on with volume real low and turn so I can’t see it. Helps stop my mind from racing.

They call it bladder urgency. I’ve learned to head towards the bathroom at first inkling of needing to go. I use benefiber with morning coffee along with Miralax later in the day. Both are sold at Costco. I think these 2 symptoms are pretty common with PD.

I don’t take PD meds. I’ve noticed too that tremors stop as I approach sleep. My chiropractor said that the part of the brain from where tremors come shuts down during sleep. Haven’t discussed this with my neurologist. Don’t know what role, good or bad, melatonin plays in this.

Yes, 5 yrs. Whether or not it was the right thing to do I’m not sure. Doc says I have typical tremor-dominant PD. Started in one hand and gradually went to other side and then the face. Other symptoms too, all the typical ones you read about. I’ve always been a vitamin user and still am, no PD vitamins really although I’m thinking about trying the B1 regime you see on YouTube.

William, Do you mind me asking…what was the side effect with Rytari? How would you compare it to regular Carbidopa/levodopa? Thank you.

Alan, Did your doctor warn you about taking Sinemet with protein foods? My doc didn’t mention it, I brought it up.
