For the past few months, I have been getting IV drips with taurine and B-Complex vitamins, and these drips have been extremely helpful. The drips provide me with hydration and have helped to decrease tremors while also helping my other symptoms (pain, fine motor control, energy levels, etc). I was wondering if anyone else has experimented with IV drips.

I was diagnosed when I was 48. I was diagnosed right before Thanksgiving which put a damper on my holiday season. For the past 4 years, my wife has been extremely supportive. I sometimes forget that PD can be a burden and a worry to her as well. Without her, I would be lost. She understands the daily challenges PD can bring and the rollercoaster ride that I am on. My wife and I have both realized that some things are not worth worrying about while some little things should be enjoyed and celebrated. My career remains unchanged and parenting is not too bad since my son is 16 and self-sufficient. My advice to myself is “take it one day at a time and appreciate every day”

I have difficulty accepting that I can no longer do the things I once did. I especially struggle with fine motor control. Screwdrivers and buttons are my enemies. I sometimes get depressed as I struggle to complete the simpliest of tasks. The other thing I struggle with is how changes fluctuate so quickly. I can be having a great day physically and mentally and within the hour be in severe pain. Parkinson’s changes are so fickle and unkind.

I have had issues with nightmares (acting out, talking in my sleep) so my neurologist put me on clonazepam. It works, but I find that I wake up groggy and sluggish. Therefore, I only use it when the nightmares are severe and consistent.

  • These are the symptoms I have that I believe are related to my PD:
    -Arm tremor
    -Nerve pain in arm
    -Body stiffness and pain
    -Drooling, especially during night
-Nightmares where I sometimes act out my dreams (kicking, punching, etc)
    -Anxiety for no reason
-I believe I have digestion issues that are a result of my PD
-Mood swings, mild depression at times
-Loss of fine motor control in my right hand.
    -Micrographia

There are probably others, but I probably have others that come and go.

Thank you for your response. It’s very reassuring. I’m leaning towards telling my new principal when the right time presents itself. I like getting input from others though.
