Freezing and walking issues
Posted by Aurora on August 22, 2024 at 6:50 amHi, I recently read this article on Parkinson’s news today and wanted to know if someone knows something about this nushu and if your experience was good or bad. Apparently it helps with freezing but I would like to know someone’s opinion before making a decision. Thank you

I am also interested in this product as FOG is my PD issue. The price range is $1295. to $2095. I am sure no insurance will cover these at this time. I have sent the company a question regarding refunds if shoes do not work as expected.

I am going to try them out tomorrow, as the company will be in Boston for one day only. I have bad bradykenesia (slow step walking) with freezing. I am praying that these NUSHU’s will work for me. Money is no object when my well-being is on the line. I will let the Forum know how I do.

Aurora, without being too brief, I would get the shoes as quickly as you can. I heard about them before they became available in the US. I finally got a pair in January 2024 and have found them to be life-changing. My problem is with freezing when I try to start walking (Once I am moving, I am fine.) The shoes have almost completely eliminated the issue. So far, I have only scratched the surface of their capabilities, once the Android version of the software is available, I should be able to fully use their capabilities.

My husband bought them in Europe last year. He’s 62 yrs old, had PD for 30+ years.
The company Magnes is amazing, as are the people, but the shoes did not help him with his falls. We had hoped they may, but the shoes are a walking aid, not a falls prevention aid. Whilst his walking is pretty much normal, apart from some cadence, he is able to walk and jog no problem. So his problem has always been when he is stopped and it certainly was worth buying the shoes to see if there was some change for him.
We tried for a month, but the festering from stopped or turning, or when his attention is somewhere else apart from walking did not improve at all. He was still going down 10-20 times a day. Unfortunately the shoes just did not help him at all. They are very comfortable and stylish also.
So pleased they have worked for many of the people that use them.

Hello, my husband falls 5-10 times per day. It’s a “slow” fall so thus far no injuries that required medical attention…although bruises and minor scraps. I get worn out “picking” him up all day. How do you handle that?

Aurora… I got my shoes and activated them today. They are great. I was walking with no freezing. The company is wonderful. I dealt with Chinouk and she was very responsive. My neurologist has a caution for me. He said that this type of product can lean to entrainment which he thoroughly explained. Simply put the brain builds up a resistance to the shoes activity. He recommended using intermittently which I was planning on doing. I will be grateful for any improvement I can get in my freezing. Thank yo for your post as I don’t know when I would have heard about these shoes.

I’m a recent purchaser of the NuShuX and for me, the jury is still out. When I demoed them I didn’t experience great change or difference. My problem, like many of you who have already commented, is falling after stopping. So during my demo I didn’t notice a major difference with them vs not. But the rep showed me the data that the shoes recorded and all my measurables were better with the vibration shoes on as opposed to off. So that sealed the deal for me and I paid the $1800. I’ve had them for about three weeks now and I’m still getting used to them. I typically don’t feel the vibration but they’re assuring me that they’re doing their thing. Rn I’m trying to mete out how to reliably get the data from the shoes.
