I have a son with Early Onset PD.  He was diagnosed at 42.  Actually, today is his birthday.  He is 49.  He has a wife & 5 children.  Nearly 2 years ago his wife announced she wanted a divorce because she “wanted to be happy.”  Since then, we have found out she’s been dating about 2 years.  We had to take our savings and buy him a house near her & the children, as she was making his life miserable.  Buying the house was a BIG mistake.  The house is split level and I get very concerned about the stairs.  We purchased it because it had what he wanted, i.e., 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, etc.  He wanted the children to have what they have at their mother’s when they come to stay over.  My husband and I are here visiting for several days, as we live 3 hours away.  His house needs cleaning and bills need to be paid.   I’m wondering if there’s any benefits he may be entitled to due to his condition?  We come and help as often as we can, but we’re not getting any younger and the trip here is not good.  His divorce isn’t even final yet.  I wish we could bring him back home but he would never leave his kids.  They are his life.  Does anyone know of benefits or places where I can find out? Thank you.

I was reading all the different dosages everyone takes.  I think my son takes too much.  He takes 25/250  five times a day and 50/200 of the extended release at 10 PM.  He was diagnosed a little over 6 years ago.  I do a lot of research into early morning hours.  I have come across so many different approaches.   But here’s just one I thought was super interesting and won’t affect any meds or supplements you’re already on. Check out Joseph Christiano, ND. I’m going to be ordering a couple of his products for my son who has early-onset PD.  God bless one & all. 💜

Try out a Sleep Number mattress. If you don’t like, they’ll probably take it back. COSTCO is very good at letting you purchase & return. My son returned mattresses to them about 3 times until he found one he was comfortable with. God bless you.

There is also “Drug induced Parkinson’s” that can stop once the medication causing it is stopped.  Just something to think about.  Check it out.

May I give this information to my son?  He was diagnosed about 6 years ago.  He is now 49.   He has 5 young children, but because of Parkinson’s, his wife just divorced him.  It’s been very sad, but we have faith that God is in control and a cure will be coming very soon…either that or lots of miracles!

Hi Cindy, I’m glad we reconnected. I couldn’t figure out how to reply. As I read your message, my heart broke. We are moms going through the same situation so we feel each other’s pain. I only wish my son wasn’t living 3 hours away. My husband & I aren’t getting any younger (72 & 81) and going there takes a lot out of me, especially when his 5 children come to stay overnight at his house. We love them to pieces but it doesn’t give us time to speak with him. I spoke to him the other day. His wife, as I said, wants a divorce. She’s planning a vacation next month and all the kids are staying at my son’s. I’m sure this is a vacation with her new boyfriend. How much more does she think my son can handle! I thank God he’s a Christian and trusts God with everything. What she is doing is so cruel. She just doesn’t want to take care of a sick husband. She actually said to me, “Don’t you want me to be happy?” I said, “Yes, with my son!” Getting away from this for now, I wanted to ask you if your son would ever consider alternative therapy? There’s a lot out there. Also, what about the Mayo Clinic? I want my son to consider this. We live in NY so we would have to travel but I’ll do anything to help him. If you would like, can you tell me your son’s first name so I can put him on my prayer list? I will be praying for you also. Please remember that God loves you and wants to help you & your family. He waits for us to be in relationship with Him. God bless you, you dear, sweet mom. Love & Blessings, Joanne

    Dear Cindy,
I don’t know if you will receive this since there doesn’t seem to be a place for me to reply to you. Just let me know if you get this. God bless you, Joanne

My son sees his neurologist about once a year at Hartford Health Care in CT.  We’ll be taking him to the Mayo Clinic as soon as I can figure out the details.  I feel like these docs don’t care.
