Hi, I take 4 magnesium @2000 mg / day, don’t sit too long, especially on hard chair, (keep moving), stretches, light on alcohol. It’s a tough one to keep at bay.

If it were me (whether I had PD or not), I’d take a cab from airport (La Guardia), have lots of small cash for tips, stay in upper East side, stay out of midtown or lower during rush / peak work hours (going in and getting out), avoid the older village restaurants with crazy stairs in/out or to bathrooms, go to MET and other museums in upper East side, Central Park, walk everywhere, try a NY deli, try Italian, go to Algonquin, Waldorf, Library, Teddy Roosevelt’s childhood house, go to bookstores, have a drink at the Carlton, stay in if slick/sleet/ice or take cabs, tip grandly, ask for help when needed. Walk briskly if you can, bundle up, good-good-good walking shoes.

Exercise for me does the following:

    1.  Keeps the brain healthy, possibly heal, possibly support dopamine levels (a bit of research supports this), it can’t hurt.

    2.  Strengthens the body, helps w/flexibility/less rigid, helps lift the spirits.

    3.  Is a strong tool to lighten PD symptoms and may delay progression. There is a lot of research around 150 mins of vigorous exercise/week may delay progression.

    4.  I walk briskly and over uneven terrain (1/week), I walk around the neighborhood (5/week), I do 30 mins on the elliptical – vigorous 3x/week-wish it was more-this really makes a difference.

    Hello folks, A few thoughts:

I have been on Rasagiline for 2.5 years with great results/no side effects.  Along with limiting alcohol and amping up the exercise it seems to have eliminated for the most part the slight: leg tremor, the foot dystonia, the stiff gait and torso, and any imbalance I had.  I only take this and a beta blocker (for the tremor).  I get 3 months supply at a time and use a coupon/program offered by the state of Calif (my pharmacist found it at CVS) for about $130.00.  My Dr. prescribed saying it might help symptoms and it might help slow progression.  Unclear what % it is aiding in those areas, but it does seem to help steady me and my progression has basically been nil so far.  My suspicion is that EXERCISE, Right MEDS COMBO, limit the ALCOHOL is key for my type of Parkinson’s (Tremor, motor, benign) at 64.
