ParticipantIn 1974, my husband drove us from Obergimpern, Germany to Rome, Italy for a long weekend. In the Army, my husband only had a 4-day break. One day to drive to Rome, 2 days sightseeing, and 1 day driving back. In 2009, we returned to Germany, staying at Edelweiss Lodge and Resort in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, and my husband surprised me on Mother’s Day by taking me to Venice, Italy. Such a beautiful country!

ParticipantI can kind of relate! My mom is pastor and we moved around a lot when I was a kid. I think it made me more resilient and outgoing, although I definitely disliked it when I was a child. I’m reluctant about moving now, but more because of the expense/inconvenience. I really like exploring new places and meeting new people. Did you enjoy following your father’s career?

ParticipantI’m an only child, so when my parents died, I really didn’t have anyone close to me except my husband. My daughter and her family lived in Oregon, so we decided watching videos of our granddaughter, we’d like to be there to be part of her life. Things fell into place rather easily, like it was meant to be. I guess it was, because my daughter is fighting a second round of stomach cancer, so I feel so much better being here than so far away in Michigan. Now with my PD diagnosis, I feel even better living here. The PNW is so beautiful and people are so nice! I am sure I would have gone into a deeper depression back in Michigan.
I have a question, too. Where do I ask it? Thanks!

ParticipantThanks Gene and your welcome – Im part of Bastyr’s online study re diet and parkinsons but – I did not know they had an event this summer – I saw one of their talks done in Australia tho recently on youtube – it was fantastic – I believe they are doing what im doing as ive sent most of my info to them but don’t get anything back – lol – I started doing it 7-8 years ago and at that time was reading research on the biome and its contribution to autoimmune disease & mitochondrial disfunction which is nearly all disease including parkinsons but do not think many folks were working along those lines back then – hope you are doing well

The progression of my symptoms is something that frustrates me; some days I think there is progression in one symptom or another, but then I really don’t know. It’s only by focusing on my condition over time that I can see those symptoms worsen.

ParticipantHello!!
Greetings to all Parkis from the birth town of Karl May, the author of the Winnetou books. Hohenstein-Ernstthal is located in Saxony in Germany. However, I was born in Zwickau, 20 kilometers away, which in turn gained some fame thanks to the “Trabant” car.
I have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s since 2013 and had a DBS operation in 2019. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a good start into the year 2022 !!!
Ralf MüllerHallo!!
Grüße an alle Parkis aus der Geburtstadt von Karl May, dem Autor der Winnetou- Bücher. Hohenstein-Ernstthal liegt in Sachsen in Deutschland.

ParticipantI have lived in Hidden Hills ca for the last 25 years. It’s a suburb of Los Angeles and is well known as the home of the Kardashians’. Before that I lived on carbon beach in Malibu. Both have been great except the drive to the city each day over the past 45 years has been a killer. I am now fully retired, at home, and waiting for a new medicine or breakthru in our disease,
I m disgusted with the fact that I take 15 tablets a day of a medicine that is 50 years old.

Louis Comitini
ParticipantHi My name is Louis Comitini from Hudson, Quebec, Canada. 58 yrs old
I was diagnosed since 2018 at 55 but as most of us, probably had Parkinson’s well before, at least 2 years.
My left leg was dragging and my left arm was still when walking. Some slurred speech then and still once in a while especially when my anxiety kicks in. I have neck and lower back pain daily. Neck pain is recent. I take Levodopa like most of us and started with 3 pills a day now up to 4 to a max of 4.5 a day after 3 years 3 months. I also take Azilect ( a Generic). For my anxiety I take Sertraline 100mg, seems to help a bit. I work out 6 days a week for aprox an hour a day. Boxing, cardio (jog/run mix) Doing the best I can to try to slow this frustrating to put it mildly disease from hell! 🙂 Debating whether to retire or not??? Pretty stressful job and it seems whenever there is the smallest amount of stress ALL my symptoms come alive instantly and stay for way too long of a time. Changed my diet and lost 40 pounds. I would love to hear some advice or listen to anyone who wants to share positive news!
I wish you all Happy Holidays and for the New year some type of a cure or something to stop or slow down this disease so we can all see more of our Grand Children!
Louis [email protected]

ParticipantI live in Penllyn Pa about 20 minutes west of Philadelphia. I was diagnosed early stage in August of 2019 but have been living with it for about 10 years prior now that I have learned more about early symptoms via this forum. I even sent a link to my husband and I encourage him to read the articles as sometimes I cannot articulate my physical and mental being as well as I did before.

ParticipantThis is my first posting I apologize, in advance for any faux pas, or whatever.
I am an international, European, brat.
Currently — for the last three years — I live in Marana AZ, immediately NW of Tucson, or about 75 mi. SW of Phoenix.
For the previous 12 years I lived in Klamath Falls, OR.
For 30 years, or so, I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area (Mountain View, Los Altos Hills, San Carlos, Sunnyvale and Scotts Valley) with two major stays in London, England (1 year) & Flemington NJ USA (2 years) and numerous trips to Rouen & Paris, France, The Netherlands, Belgium, West Germany, Austria, Italy, Ireland, Bangkok, Thailand, Denver, Longmont & Colorado Springs, CO, San Diego CA, Portland/Hillsborough OR, Seattle WA, Minneapolis MN, Detroit, MI, and, of course my motherland, Greece, with repeating trips to Singapore (over 2 years, cumulative).
Prior to this I lived in NY City, except for four years (1959-1963) in Boston/Cambridge & Framingham, MA, for college.
I was born in Athens Greece, in 1941, and lived there the first thirteen years of my life, when my family emigrated to the USA.
Terry Joakimides
PS: The picture I posted was taken many, many years before I was diagnosed with PD, but I love it because I am holding the puppy Abby who turned out to be my favorite dog.
