Gift ideas for caregivers
Posted by Ally on December 20, 2023 at 8:31 amChristmas is just a few days away, and so I’m wondering, if you are a caregiver (family, friend or professional) what would you appreciate most as a Christmas gift this year? What is the most memorable or best gift you’ve ever received from someone you were caring for?

See, caregiving can be exhausting, both physically and emotionally. Having a pillow customized just for me, with maybe a comforting quote or a picture that meant something special, made those moments of rest feel like a warm hug. It wasn’t just about the pillow itself, but the thought and effort put into making something uniquely mine.

As someone who’s been both a caregiver and on the receiving end of care, I can totally relate to your dilemma. One of the most thoughtful gifts I ever received was a https://www.giftlab.com/collections/custom-pillow . Sounds simple, right? But let me tell you, it was a game-changer. Caregivers often don’t have much time to flip through albums, so having a rotating display of cherished memories can brighten their day. You can easily upload photos remotely, which makes it even more convenient.

I know for myself that the best gift for me is free time. That’s why I’m very happy when my family helps me and my mother, and then I can devote time only to myself.

Such a good point! Time is priceless, and when you spend so much of it putting the needs of others’ first, it can feel really good to dedicate some of it to yourself. How do you like to spend your free time?

That’s wonderful, Mary! Where are you and your family going on vacation? Can you share any insights into your planning around PD?

We just try to plan everything so that there is enough time to rest, easy access to medical care if needed, and activities that my mother can comfortably enjoy. We’re thinking of going to Europe, to Budapest, because we’ve heard that it’s incredibly beautiful and has great architecture. And my mom loves that kind of thing.
