In Michigan, the winter can be really gloomy. It isn’t uncommon to go several days without seeing the sun. My primary care physician suggested that I purchase a SAD (seasonal affective disorder) light in order to help my body to regulate itself without sunshine. I haven’t done it yet. Do you use a SAD light? If so, does it seem to help?

Yes, I use one, and yes, it does seem to help. From what I’ve read, the best time to use one is for about half an hour early in the day (aka morning), which is generally what I do.

Hi Jo, do you have a particular brand that you would recommend? What is the price range for a quality SAD lamp? Is this something you can get an Rx for so your insurance will cover it, or do you have to pay out-of-pocket?
