What will they think of next?

According to a new study, finger tapping, voice, and walking data on a smartphone that is processed by deep machine learning tools can accurately distinguish between people with and without Parkinson’s disease.  The study looks at fine motor skills as digital biomarkers for PD. What do you think of this research approach?

I work in clinical research and am the sole caregiver for my mom with Parkinson’s.  We are getting ready to open a trial for a non-invasive neuromodulation device.  This study will use tests like the finger tapping and walking with the smartphone to collect data.  I think it’s really interesting and eliminates the opinion of the rater.  Should provide more consistent data.
