Mary Beth, I made and for a time used a “red light” helmet, I found the detail of research on it from an Australian web site, I belie it helped my speech ..for a while and up to a point. I stopped using it about 2 years ago but still have it and might start using it again, as my speech has got far worse now. I’m sure I could rediscover the web site and post a link if anyone wanted it. Recently started using mannitol, but too early to say if it works for me.
    Regards, Paul

Yes I have the same problem, suffered for over 12 mths, always when in bed, it stopped me from sleeping. My family Dr put me on diuretics and a 1.5 litre fluid restriction and it has gone away. Very tough sticking to only 1.5 litres though and mostly I don’t, but after a while it catches up and they start swelling and the pain comes back.
PS the 1.5 litres includes everything tea, coffee, soup the lot

Hey Tom, How long have you been using mannitol and how much per day, and also how long did it take to be effective.
I’ve started taking it about two weeks ago and use about 4 -5 tea spoons a day with no side effects. So I’m now ready to ramp up my dosage if required. I just checked I have used about 100 g (3.5 ozs) so far .

Gwen, I’am also in Australia, Townsville. I’m also very interested in mannitol and will try it as soon as i can get some. I’ve found this mob in victoria, also up here in qld who list the Soca brand and mannitol in 500 g jar (no Price as yet} I will contact them ASAP and let you know.
PS I’ve also tried the red light crown device, home made one as per the instructions on their tassie web site. I think it worked initially, then no more improvement to my speech, but I stopped using it when we went away for a few weeks. I still have it and was thinking of trying it again.
