My husband was diagnosed 1 1/2 years ago with Parkinson’s. After several months of medication, there was no evidence of it being effective. I was able to get an appointment last July at Mayo in Rochester, MN, where his diagnosis was specially indicated as MSA – Multiple Systems Atrophy, a more progression and rare form of PD. Mayo offered several treatments for the symptoms, i.e. Botox for potential drooling. Most recently, Mayo has opened a new Disorder Center for MSA. We’ll be going there in April. My suggestion is to make sure you have correct diagnosis. Additionally, if you can get to Mayo in Rochester, I highly recommend!!

I appreciate this information as I’ve been concerned about my husband – Parkinson’s/MSA diagnosis. He’s scheduled to take the first dose Saturday. I’m considering getting him to the lab to test if he has the antibodies. We have been traveling frequently. We wear our masks and social distance. BUT wouldn’t it be nice to know if you have the antibodies? I’d love to see more comments regarding taking the vaccine. Thank you!

Watching the transformation of my husband – a strong-willed and very independent business owner become a slow-moving and humble elderly man. So sad!  His loss of enthusiasm for conversation, debating, quietness. I would love to see and hear him laugh like he used to. I miss the intimacy of all our special moments. I am thankful for the best memories of my life.

My husband is suffering from these same issues… Parkinson’s equals low blood pressure; medication equals low blood pressure. I discovered a blog by Howard Shifke. He’s also written a book “Fighting Parkinson’s… and Winning”. I’ve ordered the book and anxious to read it as its focus is on how he cured his Parkinson’s symptoms with diet, exercise and mediation, NOT medication! Check it out! 🙂
