Hi, I recently was diagnosed with PD three months ago. It took two years and several Dr’s to get the final diagnosis. I’m in late 50’s and in very good shape for my age. I think that was part of the delayed diagnosis. Right now i’m not taking any meds but have tried Crexont, immediate release Levadopa, and propranolol. None of them have worked on the tremor and currently that is the most significant symptom to date. My symptoms are too “mild” for Focused Ultrasound or DBS. The Clinic / Dr that I’m seeing now doesn’t have any other suggestions.

At this point, I’m trying to find out if their are alternate therapies or meds that have been used to help with this. Any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Man, sounds super frustrating. My uncle went through a similar thing—fit as hell, but the tremor gave it away eventually. Meds didn’t help him much either till he started exploring alternatives. He ended up getting something through a Canada Pharmacy Partner after chatting with another patient online. Might be worth a shot to look into lesser-known options.

Thanks for responding. I see the link but i don’t see the alternative treatment in the link. If you could respond with the treatment, it would be greatly appreciated.

      Thx,

I was able to substantially reduce my use of carbidopa/levodopa by adding 5-10mg Sativa gummies every 4 hrs. Worst case is it doesn’t work and you get a buzz. But I found it very successful for me. My neurologist is tracking my progress because he hasn’t seen this level of success before.

Carpidopa/Levadopa never worked for me. Amantadine worked minimally but the side effects were too extensive to make me want to continue. Now concentrating on physical therapy for.my FOG.

I have a similar path, a marathoner until 63 when my knees gave out and tremor with PD diagnosis at 64. I’m 66 now and my movement disorder neurologist is suggesting it may not be PD, but a dystonic tremor (whatever that is). I still exercise and suspect this is delaying symptom progression or maybe its not PD after all? Propranolol makes the tremor milder, but my cardiologist doesn’t like what it does to my resting heart rate.
Good luck sorting this out and wish you success.

I was officially diagnosed in May of 2022 with PD. Tried rasagaline, pramipexole. Neither worked. Started C/L 25/100 2 tabs 3x daily (every 5 hours or so). Saw a great benefit for a while. About 6 months ago, started having off periods and added a 4th dose to my daily routine. About 6 weeks ago, one of my doctors said to try metformin, a very mild type 2 diabetes drug that in some informal studies have proven to have some benefits for PD symptoms. 3 days after I started on it, I noticed a substantial drop in my stiffness and other PD symptoms. I’m now taking 2-500mg ER tabs. 1 with breakfast and 1 with dinner. 6 weeks later, I’m doing great. Not sure if this will work for others but it might be worth trying. Good luck!
