Hi Ally, I commented on a post last year asking if anyone knew about the shoes “Nushu” that I read about on Parkinson’s News Today. After reading some nice reviews, I decided to buy them. Although they were not cheap, they have become a part of my daily exercise. They help with freezing and measure my walks, which I find really useful for showing my physio how much movement I’ve done. You can send them an email and try them out if you want:)

That’s great news, Aurora! Glad you could find footwear that works for you and that this forum community was helpful in that regard. That’s exactly what it’s here for. 🙂 Thanks for the update – as you can see from Kurt’s post below yours, your experience is already helping someone else.

    Hi Aurora

My worst, and most dangerous, symptom is feet freezing and falling over, typically to the front. I’ve had numerous falls lately and it’s really starting to get me down. I’m also very athletic and fit. I love to work out, hike and travel. I’m hoping these shoes will allow me to safely walk again. I have a phone call demo with the company in early April. I look forward to any additional feedback you or anyone else on here might have regarding this subject. Thank you, Kurt

Rock Steady Boxing offs designed to help with all of that. The classes will help with balance and many other physical problems and will help with motivation too.

I tried boxing but the distance and traffic was too nerve wracking. I then stared going to my local YMCA. At first I was just using the treadmill but then trying some group classes, first time was SilverSneakers Enerchi and now I take classes 5-6 times a week. TRX class is challenging but really helps with strength and balance. My instructor is also a per trainer who has become specialized in seniors health.

Beat Parkinson’s Today is an exercise program that actually has the scientific evidence that has been shown with brain scans in a trial with Yale that these classes improve symptoms and slow the progression
