twok replied to the topic What side effects do your medications have? in the forum Parkinson's Disease Medications 1 year, 2 months ago
The above replies are really interesting. I experience similar side effects. The main issue for me is the dyskinesias. I will consider issues especially the muscle tightness which I attributed to the disease and see if they might be a result of medication.
Sooo happy this issue was raised. l look forward to reading everyone’s replies. -

‘Comfort care’ service was a hit and miss experience for me. One worker was quite motivated, the other willing, but surprisingly inept, e.g. after asking me many times if she could get lunch for me, could not boil an egg. Both were wonderful human beings, trustworthy, I felt.
I believe I will use this service for episodic shopping help. Both of…[Read more] -

twok replied to the topic How do you store your medication? in the forum Living With Parkinson's Disease 1 year, 3 months ago
I devote a large shallow kitchen drawer to all meds and supplements. I have them segregated and deposited in shallow containers. Large bottles, partially full, are stored nearby.
I find that depositing pills in the used white bottle caps…before I swallow them, provides a visual verification of what I should be taking.

I use grabbers, a shower bench, a rollator, a cane, a crescent ‘knife’ to cut meat.
I am starting to use vocal ‘typing’, have an enlarged bright keyboard and when the time comes, I have a touch PC…the monitor will allow me to use my finger to scroll, x out a page, etc.
My bed consists of a bunkie board and mattress resting on the bottom steel…[Read more] -

Yes, indeed! People around me have to deal w my obvious pk symptoms, let alone the less obvious ones, like constipation, bladder and sleep issues.
If I were in a relationship, I wd not share sexual problems.
A pk group on FB was the FIRST to allow a question about alcohol use…ff by many candid responses…was refreshing… -

I have heard of adverse side effects after surgery, i.e. speech problems…not to mention stroke, death.I feel that I would consider the surgery if the latest technologies were used, but my hospital uses older techniques and there is only one surgeon who performs all of the dbs.

twok replied to the topic Does it get easier to witness the decline? in the forum A Forum for Parkinson's Disease Caregivers 2 years, 3 months ago
As one of those ‘in decline,’ (no sarcasm intended), I offer the observation that cognitive prowess can vary greatly in the same person. Clearly, everything is slower and just as emotion effects tremor, emotion can cloud ideation and the use of common sense. Then there is vitamin d, hydration, wearing off, fatigue etc. There is still a person ‘…[Read more]
