Whether it was done gently or not, the shell surrounding me is slowly being preyed open. This past week was remarkable. Despite setbacks in my motor functioning, which was due to a delay in the receipt of prescription for muscle relaxers, I accomplished a good deal towards my goals. First, I entered a musician contest with the hopes of winning some money that I would put towards new equipment and a Music Therapy Practice.I posted an introduction, as well as 3 videos of myself playing. In one of the videos, I was performing at work and the audience can be heard singing along. Although the contest was aimed at advancing the career of a professional musician/performer, I think my chances are decent🤞. My performance at work was a lot of fun this past week. I played the theme from MASH and (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. I was disappointed, though, that my department members were not in attendance. Yesterday and today, I worked on and finalized a presentation for the Synagogue’s Cultural Arts Committee. I am asking them to fund the purchase of an electric violin with octave strings. It was sound just like a cello. The main purpose for it will be to play Kol Nidre. This is an important and extremely sacred song/prayer within the High Holy Days services. It was written for the cello. It would have significant meaning to be able to replicate the sound of the tune with more authenticity. I will also play it “as is” for them at the conclusion of the presentation. Additionally, I shared the contest video with my speech therapist and have requested the opportunity to practice the presentation with her during our next session. Lastly, my academic program is progressing very nicely. The future holds a lot of promise and many more opportunities. 🎻🎼🎵🎶🤞🙌🏻🙏🏻😇❣️
I am going to try sharing the sing-along and the second video of my practice session for the performance at work. I hope you like them😊
