Short Bio

My Husband was diagnosed with PD two years ago and the age of 58. For now his symptoms are relatively mild. Dave’s dealing with loss of sense of smell, intermittent swallowing and speech effects, mild tremoring on his left side, and a few other things.

“One of the ways that Dave has responded to this reality is by reducing stress in his life (stress makes all symptoms worse), and by making intense exercise–mainly cycling–part of almost every day. He rides about 100 miles per week.  I have always thought that keeping our bodies in motion and stimulating the brain through exercise is key to keeping us healthy!   Right now, exercise is the thing that seems to combat the symptoms of PD; as they say, “movement is medicine.”  How lucky for us that I am in the fitness business–I have always thought that keeping our bodies in motion and stimulating the brain through exercise is key to keeping us healthy!”

He just started taking a low dosage of Sinemet. His movement disorder specialist said it would help with balance, stiffness and power output on the bike, which has not been the same since he was diagnosed.

We are both very active and eat a balanced diet.
