Short Bio |
My Father is 91 years old and was formally diagnosed with Parkinson’s 4 years ago, immediately after his wife’s death. He had symptoms for years though. He is also legally blind from glaucoma and macular degeneration and is extremely hard of hearing. A walker holds him up. He is palliative care only. He currently still lives alone, even though he absolutely shouldn’t. My sister (66) and I(64) visit daily, more often in crisis. Plus we do his laundry, meals, financial issues, cleaning, Doctor appointments, medicines and anything else you can think of. We did 3 years of caretaking with Mama (strokes & dementia) immediately prior to Papa. We are both disabled and mentally exhausted. We have had one 3 day respite in 7 years.
