Women with Parkinson’s Deserve More Research Attention
An initiative led by the Parkinson’s Foundation has culminated with a report that aims to make sure women in the U.S. receive the same attention as men in studies and treatments for the physical and mental effects of Parkinson’s disease (PD). The report — titled “Women and Parkinson’s: Closing the Gender Gap in Research and Care, A patient-centered agenda for change”— came out in late March.
It follows two years of information-gathering by almost 500 women with Parkinson’s as well as healthcare professionals around the country. Read a summary of the report and its recommendations here.
Are you a woman with Parkinson’s? What do you think of this report?
