I was diagnosed in 2010, but tests show I had PD for approx 3 yrs before that. I am 74, a retired math instructor, wife, mother of 3, grandmother of 4.  My main problems are mobility, and occasionally swallowing.  I use a walker which really helps and I received a service dog 3 yrs ago from Canine Companions for Independence.  She is a huge help, picking up dropped items, pushing elevator buttons so I can keep both hands on my walker, barks on command when I’ve fallen and need help, and many, many more ways!  For the swallowing problems I have had an esophageal dilation 3 times already.  Five yrs ago I had DBS surgery and the amount of carbidopa/levodopa I needed dropped drastically.
