Biography

My husband John, a retired Fire Dept. Capt.,  was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in May 2019.  His main symptom is a left-hand tremor.  Subtle symptoms (loss of smell, acting out dreams) were there for some time prior to diagnosis.  He is not on medications yet and has joined Rock Steady Boxing as an avenue to delay any further progression.  We are looking for connections with others in this same predicament.  You will probably see me (Mary) more active re comments etc. However, I am sure he will be following with interest and will likely join in as well.  We have taken the attitude that he does not identify himself as Mr. Parksinson’s – it is an chronic affliction that can be addressed and managed and it doesn’t rule our lives – -it is pushed to the background.
