Mark Caldwell replied to the topic Melotonin for stopping hand tremors in the forum Parkinson's Disease alternative treatments 1 month, 4 weeks ago
I have found that my pain threshold is a lot lower since I have developed PD. I know that my back pain is caused by 1) arthritis and 2) really tight hamstrings. I am not as diligent in my stretching as I used to be, and that has increased my sleeping pattern difficulty. I don’t think that PD has a definite causal relationship to back pain, but t…[Read more]

Mark Caldwell replied to the topic Will you continue to get COVID boosters and vaccines? in the forum Coronavirus (COVID-19) and Parkinson’s 3 months ago
Yes. I have had my two shots and three boosters. I will get another booster this weekend and my year flu shot. I am thankful for not being very susceptible to viruses, my wife came down with Covid in May, and I escaped without getting it. I tested myself every 5 days and nada!
I truly believe that we must avoid politicization of vaccines and…[Read more] -

Mark Caldwell replied to the topic Do you still drive? in the forum Living With Parkinson's Disease 1 year, 2 months ago
I gave up my motorcycle about a year ago. I froze while turning and luckily stopped before I ran into anything. I made it home and put my bike up for sale the next day. It is the only thing I have had to give up so far. I still drive, but with my wife if I have to go a long way, (60-100 miles).

Mark Caldwell replied to the topic Mannitol, a sugar, has given me back my life! in the forum Parkinson's Disease Medications 1 year, 6 months ago
I read about mannitol about a year ago, and I have been diagnosed with PD about 2-1/2 years ago. My neurologist started me on rasagiline (1mg/day) and that’s all I have been on since. I started taking mannitol (1 tablespoonful daily- about 15gms) in 1/2 cup of coffee in the morning. I didn’t want to ruin a whole cup! I found my diet affects the…[Read more]
