My wife,of 60 years passed away on July 11, 2021 just two days after her 78th birthday and 11 days before our 60th wedding anniversary. She had PD for over two decades and in the last several years suffered balance and mobility symptoms accompanied by frequent falls. As someone who liked crafts, the loss of dexterity in her hands was difficult for her. Then her, speech suffered and experienced visual and verbal hallucinations often seeing and talking to our three children who were not present. She never complained about her affliction although she endured a lot of pain from falls. ,To her very last days, she would not let this terrible disease from preventing her from trying to help with some household chores.
She had a devastating fall down a flight of stairs carrying a bedsheet. I told her numerous times to never go up or down stairs without me helping and especially holding something in hand, but,she wanted to,help. She suffered severe cranial! Facial and spinal injuries that she could not recover from. She did not die from PD, but from the deterioration of faculties caused by it. I tried my best to keep her safe, but obviously not as well as I could.
