My husband has advanced PD, and was hospitalized with Covid. He has not fully recovered in the fifteen months since.  His macular degeneration increased.  His ejection fraction decreased. He is now on oxygen.  His memory is confused.  Freezing is now worse.  I do not know if these symptoms are due  to progression of the disease in general, or if Covid  accelerated them.

I am grateful to Diana for suggesting this.  My husband has been declining for years, and I am at the point where I can no longer be a solitary caregiver.  I would love to communicate with other PD caregivers.  In fact, I am wondering if a dedicated message line might be even better than a monthly meeting, considering the broad range of time zones involved.  My family (10 adult children) has a real-time message line.  We post comments and concerns and other participants monitor the thread and offer support, suggestions, congratulations, and sympathy. Sometimes I don’t log on for a week, but I can follow the thread back and catch up.  If we received a notification when someone posts, we could log on and participate at our own convenience.

We, too, would like the name/manufacturer of the disability mattress.

We have been using Medical Guardian for two years.  When the button is pushed, a real person answers.  This person speaks to us by name and knows where we are located.  If I have to run a brief errand or go out of earshot (to the garden or mowing the lawn) I give him the pendant.  Sometimes I get a call that he has gotten his wheelchair into a corner or needs help rolling over in bed.  These may be minor incidents, but having me return to perform these tasks means he won’t have to continue being frustrated.  If you habitually lock your doors, the service comes with a lockbox into which you can put a key to be retrieved by entering a code you have supplied. We have just renewed for another year.
