Short Bio |
I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2011, but had symptoms for at least 3 years before that. I am a retired attorney who practiced in Legal Services representing victims of domestic violence. In 2012 my husband and I moved to Collington, a Kendal Affiliate, a life care retirement community in Bowie, MD because I had Parkinson’s. Six months later my husband was diagnosed with MDS, a terminal (in his case) bone marrow cancer. He died 18 months ago, and I cared for him until his last two weeks, when he went into hospice and our health facility. I moved 9 months ago from a large cottage to a small apartment, which is much easier for me. The Parkinson’s Support Group of Bowie, MD, has been of enormous help.
