Biography

Kia ora everyone. So a year ago (early 2019) I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at age 54. A year on and I now want to reach out connect with a few of these online support forums.  This one looks great.

My symptoms come and go. I’m on 180mg of Madopar daily in 3 doses.  Trying to eat well, going for a more balanced, Mediterranean style diet, not too heavy on the meat. Also trying to cut refined sugar intake right down (that’s tough right?). I’m exercising as much as possible – ideally four sessions of HIT (High Intensity Interval Training) per week. So far so good. I love my public speaking. Of course I get nervous and a bit shaky, but I find if I persevere, and stay mindful of my emotions, I can generally still present and do all the social things that I used to do pre-PD. I find I just have to change my style a wee-bit, be more mindful in what I say and do, and how I say and do it.  Anyway that’s enough about me.
