Short Bio

I, along with my wife Marilyn, to whom I was wed in December of 1971, moved to Agua Dulce, in April of 2019 after living in Monrovia, California, since 1975.  We both grew up in the San Gabriel Valley, she in Arcadia and I in La Puente and El Monte, which is adjacent to Arcadia. We met at Arroyo High School (class of 1969) where I ran track and cross country, sang in the choir and worked on the staff of The Quill (an annual literary publication) and she played tennis, was a classical pianist and bowled in an after-school league. We went on to Pasadena City College (class of 1971), where I studied music and journalism and she studied music and nursing.  I went on to Cal State University, Los Angeles, (class of 1973) and to work as a news editor, sports reporter and then sports editor while she got her registered nursing degree and became a pediatric nurse, then later an emergency room nurse. Then came the boys, both in February, Sean in 1978 and Nathan in  1980. And that changed our world. Determined to raise the boys ourselves, Marilyn became an overnight nurse, I traded in my typewriter for a career in real estate and insurance sales, and we covered all areas of the child-rearing spectrum between the two of us: school (transportation, homework, activities), church (including activities through the week)  sports (recreational soccer, baseball, basketball, karate) and home (relax, recreate, chores). We took vacations to the beach, Yellowstone, Yosemite, San Diego, Seattle and Vancouver, and every year, from preschool through high school we worked in a week of Family Camp at Forest Home Christian Conference Center on the road out of Redlands that leads to Big Bear.
