I had Focused Ultrasound treatment done in July this year for my dominant Right hand. It gave me the use of my hand back and I would highly recommend it.

Tremors are my worse symptom.

I had the Focused Ultrasound procedure done for my right-hand tremors on July 18, 2022, a little over a month ago. I am happy to report that it was totally successful! I had no side effects even though I was told to expect dizziness, headache and other possible things for a temporary period of time. I attribute that to the many people that were…[Read more]

Fred Barnett replied to the topic Does anyone else in your family have Parkinson's? in the forum Living With Parkinson's Disease 7 months, 4 weeks ago
I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2011 at age 72, 10 years ago. My mother had tremors from in her 40’s until she died at age 94. My brother had tremors from age 78 to 84 when he died. I suspect that both of them had Parkinson’s although they were never formally diagnosed with it. They never took medication for it as I do. I will soon be having…[Read more]

Fred Barnett replied to the topic Do you think your stress levels have gotten worse over time? in the forum Parkinson's Disease Symptoms 1 year ago
I was diagnosed with PD in 2011 and have steadily progressed with my PD symptoms ever since. That includes the amount of stress I experience. The stress is proportionate to the intensity of my symptoms at the time. The more severe my tremors, the more severe my stress. I try to control my stress with relaxing music, quiet time, meditation, and…[Read more]

Fred Barnett replied to the topic What's the most challenging part about the holidays? in the forum Diagnosis Information and General Questions 1 year ago
Andy, those symptoms are exactly the same with me! Especially the bladder problems, I couldn’t go to the Christmas church service with the rest of the family because I have to go to the bathroom so often. I also have considerable difficulty eating in front of a lot of people.

The most challenging thing for me is trying to eat out, either with company at home or in a restaurant. My tremors make it hard to keep food on my fork or spoon. It’s embarrassing in either setting. It also takes me longer to eat than everyone else, so that’s a problem also.

Fred Barnett replied to the topic Do you still drive? in the forum Living With Parkinson's Disease 1 year, 3 months ago
I am 82 yrs. old, I’ve had Parkinson’s for 11 years and am in stage 3 now. I have never gotten DBS or focused ultrasound because of covid-19 and my age. I still drive occasionally but my wife drives 90% of the time. I feel very uncomfortable when driving in traffic or at high speed these days. I have a folding electric scooter for running around…[Read more]

Fred Barnett replied to the topic Have your urinary patterns changed? in the forum Parkinson's Disease Symptoms 1 year, 3 months ago
I wear a pad at night which allows me to sleep through the night without getting up. I try to limit my fluid intake after 7pm. I take melatonin every night, as well.

Fred Barnett replied to the topic Did you notice changes to your symptoms after getting vaccinated? in the forum Coronavirus (COVID-19) and Parkinson’s 1 year, 5 months ago
I also had the two Pfizer shots in January. My incontinence and tremors got a lot worse and are still bad. I did get Covid before my shots. I don’t know if that made a difference or not.
