My husband was “diagnosed” in 2012 at the age of 69 through an accumulation of symptoms, mostly trembling in both hands, slowing mobility, and minor speech issues. We have managed quite well through two DBS surgeries, multiple health complications, 6 months on a feeding tube, all kinds of mobility assistance, a variety of therapies, lots and lots of falls (some with injuries). We have a become happy homebodies, me still working as a consultant, mostly from home so I can be a full-time caregiver. He is stoic, positive, and appreciative, and he gives great foot rubs! Life is good, in spite of PD. It’s a learning process. Balance denial with acceptance. Accept the Fates and move on to another level of serenity. There IS joy in every day.
