Short Bio

Hello,

I just turned 73; the last 3 years have been tough, especially that I am alone. I was diagnosed with PD, but doubt that diagnosis is correct; have had hand tremors for years, but not responsive to meds.

I had 3 successful and satisfying careers as a high school teacher, registered nurse and a licensed attorney. They all worked together.

I spent a lot of free time traveling all over the world. Lost my husband in 2012; thereafter,a I had an exciting relationship with a Frenchman for 8 years, which I had to end for various reasons.

Spent a lot of time in French Carribean where in 2014, I got the chickunguya virus from mosquito bites, and now have post chickunguya chronic arthritis and neuro symptoms. My neurologist was very open to the fact that tremors and problems with walking and balance could be from the virus; much scholarly lit supports that chickungunya  is a neuro invasive virus.

And yes, I do have problems facing small tasks that would have been done in a nano second before the tropical virus came back to haunt me. Covid creates a lonely life for those of us who live alone. I must be depressed, but it doesn’t exactly feel like that.

I appreciate that I have a nice home and am financially OK. My family has shrunk to 3 people and 2 good friends, but with Covid, my life has been going to medical appts. I have started to rebel, cancelling many. I don’t find any doctors worth seeing except primary care I have had for 25+ years.

Does anyone else feel very disappointed in the medical profession generally speaking .? I can take care of myself, but it’s existing comfortably, but not living. Thanks for reading and “listening.”

How long have you or the person that you are caring for had PD?

Not sure I have PD, but 3 to 4 years.
