Hi everyone, the Parkinson’s News Today team is looking to make some improvements to how the forums and groups on this site function. Our goal is to improve the experience for all you so that participating in this community is easier and more valuable. If you have any specific suggestions for improvement, complaints, or experiences you’d like us to know about, comment below or send me a DM.

Some users have mentioned wanting to be able to save or bookmark conversations, not just articles.

Personally, I’d like to see more resources available in the evenings, like virtual support groups because I am still working. I don’t want that to hinder my involvement at all. Perhaps a poll could be done in each forum to get an overview of others who are in a similar situation as me?

Thanks for responding, Jill. This is great feedback. It’s great to know that some folks want to bookmark conversations to return to later!

Could you tell us more about what you’d like to experience or take away from a virtual support group? What kind of format or considerations would be helpful to keep in mind?

Thank you for reading and responding.

Perhaps an overview of the past week’s post subjects could determine how to set up the discussion for a session. For example, reluctance of a person for whom you are care partnering to seek help or ensuring that you have made adequate arrangements for ambulation while on a trip. For me, having a connection available in the evening, after dinner, is critical because I am still working. I would love to get feedback from others on how to tell the difference between when someone is truly accommodating and when they are just avoiding the Parkephant in the room with their humor. I don’t trust my instincts anymore; I over react and misinterpret responses which causes uncontrollable crying. I have never been one to feel sorry for myself and I hope that isn’t why I’m responding that way. I really would appreciate an opportunity to talk, NOT TYPE!

Thanks, Jill. I totally hear you that sometimes it’s more cathartic – and frankly, simpler – to speak about our issues vs. typing questions and responses. I’ll take that feedback back to the forums team. We’re trying to do a lot of events to build written community here, but your input about face-to-face/voice-to-voice community is important, too.
