This is Marjorie Weiss’ story: “You have Parkinson’s disease,” the doctor told her husband, David, when he was just 49.

They were promised 20 good years with medications to support him, but within four years Marjorie was the sole breadwinner.
Salvation arrived with deep brain stimulation surgery (DBS). And after 20 years, the DBS continues to work marvelously for David.

    But what about Marjorie?

The release that comes through her “sobbing sessions” is central to her mental health. Marjorie tries to fill her life with beauty and not let Parkinson’s rule each day.

Marjorie, people like you matter so much!

Now back to our PD Community: if you are caring for someone with Parkinson’s, how do you manage your mental health?
