• Do you see a Speech Pathologist?

    My Dad’s doctor has recommended that he visit a Speech Pathologist if he’s willing. While he’s still doing quite well, his voice has gotten softer and it can be difficult to hear him from across the room. Do you see a Speech Pathologist? If so, has it been helpful?

    My husband has done a couple of different programs such as Big and Loud, and The Voice Project. It does help, however one must continue to complete the exercises they teach you in order to have continual improvement. I think it’s important because communication is key. In The Voice Project they also work on cognitive exercises (games) that are fun and help to get the brain processing. Good luck to you!

    I am interested in a device called SpeechVive. What it does is this: The SpeechVive device leverages an automatic brain response called the Lombard Effect. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lombard_effect
