In this video from the Davis Phinney Foundation, Dr. Andrew Duker discusses some of the reasons why Parkinson’s disease patients get so fatigued and what can be done to help them.
Duker describes how patients with Parkinson’s need to use extra energy to overcome their stiffness and slowness due to the disease, which can make them feel very fatigued. He also talks about the side effects of some medications used for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease which can also contribute to a patient’s fatigue. Depression is also a factor for a lot of people with Parkinson’s and can be a major contributor if left untreated.
